carrot roll cake with Woolwich Original Fresh Soft Goat Cheese | #ad

First you’ll notice that this is a roll cake. I’ve never seen a carrot roll cake before, and was a little nervous about how it would work, but it was a dream! Of course I went through a few rounds of testing, some were hilariously bad...haha, but the result is a perfectly fluffy cake that bakes up in about 10 minutes! Then I decided to do a fresh take on the classic pairing of cream cheese frosting, and instead used Woolwich Dairy’s Original Soft Fresh Goat Cheese paired with brown butter. I’m obsessed with this goat cheese as it’s such a unique flavour, is made with Canadian goat milk, and it complemented the warm spices in the carrot cake so well.

halfway homemade cinnamon sugar cruffins (made with puff pastry)

It’s time for another halfway homemade recipe! I teamed up with my dear friend Kristie from The Sweet and Simple Kitchen to bring you another fun, super easy recipe that we think you’ll love. It is always such a different experience for me when I get to bake with a friend and fellow blogger. Food blogging is such a funny, and sometimes isolating thing, so it’s always so fun when you get to bounce ideas off of someone face to face! I’m pretty sure I would have thrown in the towel on these if Kristie hadn’t been there offering encouragement and ideas! Ha!

blood orange doughnuts with blood orange glaze

Today we’re talking about fluffy fluffy DOUGHNUTS. They have the freshest zest of blood orange in them, and I can’t get enough of them.

This doughnut recipe is seriously so simple, and the options for the toppings are endless! I chose a pink blood orange glaze with a splatter of gold, but you could simply roll in powdered sugar or granulated sugar, glaze with a thin plain glaze, or choose the glaze type of your choice. I think a rich chocolate glaze would go so perfectly with the zesty orange flavour of the doughnuts too! And of course, you can swap out the blood orange with any citrus…yay!

blood orange citrus sheet cake with blood orange butter cream

Guess who finally found BLOOD ORANGES!!! I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled for them since November…hahaha, but they only just showed up in the last couple weeks! I will be 100% honest and say that my obsession is purely based on looks, as their taste isn’t that much different than your average orange. But how fun is it to cut into a normal looking orange, and be rewarded with gorgeous shades of red? And I’ve been so delighted to play around with their natural colour in a few different recipes!
